Kirstin's Chronicles

Welcome to the chronicles of my adventures. As I journey with the Lord I hope to share about the people along the way and all that I learn.

In the Kitchen

Sorry it has been such a long time since I have updated my blog. January is one of those months where it just takes awhile to get back into the swing of things and this year has been no exception. It actually has been a little more difficult but I know God is teaching me great things as I continue to learn to trust Him in even greater ways.

On a fun note. I love to bake and sometimes cook, so I have been enjoying trying out new recipes here and also using tried and true favorites to bring a little comfort of home. Every holiday season many Americans drive to the store and pick up a can of pumpkin for their many baking needs. Well canned pumpkin does not exist here. Last December a big can was brought back from the states for me to make pumpkin pie for some students. But this past month I got a big butternut squash from Erzebet's garden. So I cooked it up and had a least 4 cups of squash to use. I made three loaves of squash gingerbread. It all tasted so good and I think Ashley and I polished off two loaves in about 3 days. Well maybe a little longer but it tasted great.

Also last week I made Chocolate Chip cookies with Brigi, one of the Hungarian girls I have been meeting with. It was fun to teach her how to make an American treat.

As for this weekend not sure what item will get made but it sure is fun to imagine the possibilities.
