Thoughts on Missions

Well not my thoughts but great thoughts none the less. As I am preparing to lead a time for our team on the materials by Gabe Lyons I was struck by a quote in the introduction. A professor of his in college gave this description of missions.

"Missions was not the act of going to a scary place and courageously telling them what you believed. Instead, mission was a vocation: a thoughtful, strategic, deeply anthropological, and culturally observant way of live. Moreover, mission is for all Christians in every culture." Professor Matheny

I am ready to unpack that statement and think about what that means in our modern day American culture. Becoming a student and learner of the place in which I reside has always fascinated me and now to have this discussion with others will just enliven my soul.
